Magnetic Resonance Imaging Specialist

The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia is seeking a skilled Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist to join our team. As an MRI technologist, you will work with radiologists and fellow staff members to prepare patients and operate magnetic resonance equipment to obtain diagnostic scans.
Key Responsibilities:
Position patients' body parts for imaging and set technical factors on the equipment to ensure quality images.
Work under general supervision to perform exams and procedures according to departmental protocol and physician orders.
Ensure patient safety and comfort while in the radiology department, explaining procedures and post-procedure orders to gain cooperation and minimize anxiety.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required, with a graduate degree from an accredited school for Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
2 years of healthcare experience preferred, with ARRRT or ARMRIT registration in MRI or eligibility within 12 months of hire.
Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communications, with ability to work in a stressful environment and multitask.
Working Conditions:
The job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequent travel, and reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive). Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills are necessary, along with attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs. May be exposed to radiation.
