About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist to join our team at the University of Virginia. As an MRI Technologist, you will play a critical role in preparing patients and operating magnetic resonance equipment to obtain diagnostic scans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with radiologists and fellow staff members to prepare patients and operate magnetic resonance equipment.
  • Perform a variety of exams and procedures according to departmental protocol, as requested by physician order.
  • Position patients' body parts for imaging and set appropriate technical factors on the imaging equipment.
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort while in the radiology department.
  • Explain procedures and post-procedure orders to patients to gain cooperation and minimize anxiety.
  • Prioritize workflow in regard to patient condition and ensure timely arrival and departure.
  • Provide an atmosphere conducive to patient cooperation and confidence.
  • Utilize data from patient satisfaction and practice performance results to identify opportunities for improvement.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Graduate of an accredited school for Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
  • 2 years of healthcare experience preferred.
  • ARRT or ARMRIT Registered in MRI, or eligible.
Working Conditions

The job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling and reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive). Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills are necessary. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs. May be exposed to radiation.
