Role Summary

The Hot Section Module Center (HSMC) is seeking a Quality Assurance Analyst to enhance our metallographic testing and assessment of engine component samples. This role involves conducting metallographic evaluations of blade and vane airfoils across various manufacturing techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage regularly with production teams and other engineering sectors to address metallurgical challenges and devise effective root cause analyses and corrective measures for manufacturing issues.
  • Act as a collaborative team member, employing CORE tools and continuous improvement practices while ensuring compliance with EH&S and operational standards to maintain a safe and efficient workplace.
  • Conduct metallographic evaluations and document findings for processes such as advanced/aluminides coating, laser, EDM, brazing, and grinding related to blade and vane airfoils.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and accurate laboratory reports while maintaining records, mounts, and sample residue retention. Monitor the testing frequency of all processes.
  • Develop evaluation sheets for all tested components.
  • Investigate various parts and process-related issues.

Qualifications Required:

  • A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 6 months of experience in Materials Science, Engineering, or Quality Engineering.
  • U.S. citizenship is mandatory for this position due to the handling of sensitive data associated with government and military programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A degree in Materials Science or an Engineering discipline with a focus on Metallurgy or Metallography.
  • At least 1 year of experience in metallographic testing, examination, and documentation.
  • A background in quality engineering or materials science, with experience in root cause analysis, corrective actions, and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Proficiency in the use of hand tools and testing equipment.
  • Familiarity with Aerospace Quality and manufacturing standards.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access, with a focus on accuracy.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement tools (CORE/ACE/Six Sigma).
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels, including senior management.

Compensation and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is between $53,000 and $103,000, reflecting a comprehensive assessment of experience levels. RTX considers various factors when extending offers, including role responsibilities, candidate experience, location, education, and key skills.

Successful candidates may be eligible for a range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, 401(k) matching, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance programs, and paid time off.
