We are seeking a highly skilled Benefits Coordinator to join our team at AMS Staffing, Inc. in Chicago, IL.
Job Summary:
The Benefits Coordinator will be responsible for administering employee benefits, including leave of absence, life insurance, and retirement plans. This role will also involve coordinating with external vendors, auditing reports, and ensuring compliance with federal and state laws.
Responsibilities:
- Process and audit monthly benefit invoices and vendor reports for accuracy.
- Interpret and explain benefits and leave procedures to employees and management.
- Administer leaves of absence, coordinate with external vendors, and ensure compliance with federal and state laws.
- Review requests for job accommodations related to the ADA and conduct an interactive process.
- Work with the Benefits Manager and HRBP to resolve complex leave and ADA matters.
- Audit leave of absence pay reports regularly and act as back-up for leave of absence pay calculations.
- Conduct new hire benefits orientation and retiree benefits administration.
- Evidence of insurability administration and coordinate benefits and wellness program events.
- Assist other team members with monitoring department phone and email inboxes and create business process documentation.
- Process life insurance claims for deceased employees and assist with ad hoc projects in benefit administration and employee relations.
- Maintain vendor relationships and have in-depth knowledge of their processes and online functionality.
- Assist with benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations and respond to surveys accurately.
- Be proficient in Benefitfocus and manage content in the firm's benefits portal.
- Maintain employee benefits files and provide back-up support to Benefits team members as needed.
- Assist the HR Department in special projects and areas of need.
Requirements:
- 2-4 years of benefits experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
- 1-2 years of leave of absence administration experience.
- Knowledge of ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ADA, and other similar state-specific leave laws.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a sometimes stressful environment and flexibility to work overtime as needed.
What We Offer:
A competitive pay rate of $35/hr (some flex) with the possibility of conversion to a full-time role, great benefits, and a referral fee of $500 for qualified referrals.
