JOB GOAL:
  • To provide students with foundational vocal training and introduce them to a variety of musical instruments, including percussion, brass, woodwinds, and strings. JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • Employs a diverse repertoire of music literature, encompassing both traditional and contemporary pieces suitable for the age and skill levels of students, adhering to the curriculum established by the School District.
  • Utilizes a range of instructional techniques and strategies; adapts teaching methods to meet the varied needs, interests, learning styles, and abilities of students; provides personalized and small group instruction to tailor the curriculum accordingly.
  • Instructs students in citizenship, fundamental communication skills, and other general components of the curriculum as mandated by state law and district regulations.
  • Plans, rehearses, and directs students in the execution of musical performances for the school.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Designs a comprehensive music program and organizes daily class time effectively to ensure preparation, rehearsal, and instruction are completed within the designated timeframe.
  • Introduces students to fundamental music concepts such as notes, tempo, symphony, beats, compositions, chords, scales, and rhythm.
  • Exposes students to various music genres including jazz, classical, techno, pop, and folk.
  • Maintains standards of student behavior necessary for an orderly and productive learning environment, in collaboration with school administration.
  • Selects and recommends requisitions for instruments and instructional materials; instructs students on the proper care and use of these resources; organizes storage areas and manages the use of materials to prevent loss or misuse.
  • Introduces students to a variety of instruments and provides insights into their cultural significance.
  • Conducts basic attendance tracking and maintains accurate records as required by law and district policy.
  • Prepares and maintains lesson plans with clearly defined learning objectives.
  • Participates in staff and district meetings as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal

EVALUATION: Annual

SALARY: Commensurate with the district's teacher contract
