Aquatics Experience Coordinator

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Aquatics Experience Coordinator to join our team at the YMCA of Central Ohio. As a key member of our aquatics team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of service and safety for our members and guests.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Development: Think, communicate, and behave as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members, promoting youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.
  • Staff Management: Ensure records of all staff certifications are current and complete, and that all in-service standards are met.
  • Scheduling and Operations: Update the pool schedule monthly and monitor for upcoming events.
  • Certification and Training: Conduct certification courses in YMCA and American Red Cross courses.
  • Inventory and Purchasing: Help maintain inventory and recommend purchases.
  • Customer Service: Relate with parents of participants by providing information, procedures, and handouts, and by answering questions during lessons.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Participate in emergency drills and procedures to the highest level that training and situation permit.
  • Program Development: Enter classes into Daxko, assign students to appropriate levels, eliminate wait lists, monitor registration, return phone calls and emails promptly, and post the schedule for members. Develop strategies with branch leadership to grow/build programs, identify program opportunities to meet community needs, and track retention, promotions, and total registration for class.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Indirectly supervise 5-20 staff, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the association's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, developing, coaching, rewarding, and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma and previous teaching experience.
  • Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen, Lifeguarding required.
  • Within 6 months of hire: YMCA Swim Lessons Instructor certification and American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification.
  • Passionate belief in the Y's cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all people, and finding ways to help and support our neighbors.
  • Understanding of the nature and purpose of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and staff.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative team approach to solving challenging situations.
