Job Title: System Administrator - IBM Power 10

We are seeking a highly skilled System Administrator to join our team at New Millenium Consulting. The successful candidate will be responsible for the systems management of IBM Power 10 (iSeries AS400) servers in a high-availability environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide support to application administration and monitor AS400 system access.
  • Formulate and install AS400 performance enhancement and tuning processes.
  • Evaluate and document system processes, work summaries, and technical issues.
  • Repair and resolve system break issues relating to iSeries hardware components.
  • Administer, manage, and maintain Web Sphere applications systems and HTTP servers.
  • Analyze end-user and software programs, connectivity issues, and application errors.
  • Manage the relationship with IBM, along with product and service providers hosted in the IBM environment.
  • Evaluate, administer, and implement information service products in AS400 and client-server domains.
Operational Management:

The System Administrator - IBM Power 10 will need to be fluent in, but not limited to:

  • OS400, patching, and configuration, LPAR management.
  • Apply IBM PTFs, and experience with IPL.
  • Experience in routine AS400 performance enhancement and tuning processes.
  • IBM Navigator.
  • Apache server configuration and administration.
  • Resource management.
  • Change Control & Management tools such as Turnover, iSeries FTP, Telnet.
  • System backups and products such as BRMS.
  • Experience and able to use HA products such as iTera or Mimix for environment roll swaps.
  • Performs disaster recovery set up, planning, and testing.
  • Comfortable monitoring system resources and subsystems.
  • Ability to diagnose system-level errors through message handling for active jobs.
  • Administration of Spooling & printing.
  • Understanding and at times administration of User and group profiles and elevated access.
  • In-depth understanding of System Values in IBM i for Power 10.
  • Administers IFS setup, directories, and access.
  • Comfortable with DB400 databases and IBM Sequel for general support.
Qualifications:
  • Five (5) to Six (6) years minimum demonstrated hands-on experience with IBM mid-range server administration.
  • Certifications in any areas of Information Technology, desired.
Knowledge & Experience:
  • Casino gaming environment experience desired.
  • Knowledge of or experience using formal IT management and governance frameworks such as ITIL, CoBIT or NIST.
Technical Expertise:
  • Five (5) years' experience supporting IBM I systems with multiple logical partitions (LPAR's) and HMC.
  • Experience in AS400 Security Management, Communication, Operating System Upgrades and PTF deployment, Independent Auxiliary Storage Pools (iASP's) and Storage Based Replication.
  • Experience in using journaling, especially remote journaling.
  • Experience in availability software, iTera preferred and multiple data centers.
