Position Overview: The Ministry Programs Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the Ministry Programs Director by assisting in the implementation, assessment, and delivery of various programs and ministry initiatives aimed at enhancing the emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being of participants, in alignment with the mission of The Salvation Army. This position also involves overseeing building rentals and managing day camp counselors during summer programs and special events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Ministry Programs Director to identify and cultivate potential leaders for programming.
  • Support outreach efforts by assisting the Ministry Programs Director in developing effective strategies.
  • Conduct and assess weekly programming under the guidance of the Ministry Programs Director.
  • Work alongside the Ministry Programs Director to plan, execute, and evaluate summer camp and special event programs.
  • Assist in the development and evaluation of spiritual programming initiatives.
  • Engage and manage volunteers in coordination with the Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Supervise day camp counselors and volunteers to ensure a positive experience for participants.
  • Adhere to all safety and health policies during programming and events.
  • Provide necessary data and reports to the Ministry Programs Director for program evaluation.
  • Maintain accurate records of program expenditures and provide them to the Ministry Programs Director.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • A degree in Christian ministry, youth ministry, or children's education is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrated experience working with children, ideally four years or more.

Skills and Competencies:

  • This role requires a strong foundation in Christian values and maturity, reflecting the mission of The Salvation Army.
  • Active participation in a worshiping community is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate Biblical teachings and facilitate discussions appropriate for various age groups.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Familiarity with TEAMS and SharePoint is advantageous.
  • Willingness to learn new software as necessary.

Certifications:

  • Completion of Safe From Harm training is required, with ongoing updates as necessary.
  • A valid chauffeur's license is required, with the ability to pass a motor vehicle record check.
