Metalex Manufacturing, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Quote Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Quotation Department, you will be responsible for developing estimates and proposals for precision components solicited by our customers.

About the Role:

  • Assist in generating cost estimates in response to Customer Requests for Quotes (RFQ's)
  • Ensure the quality of quotes by monitoring real-time performance of awarded jobs in the shop
  • Collaborate with team members to develop efficient machining practices and recommend optimal tooling, feeds, and speeds
  • Estimate machining cycle and setup times using industry-standard methods
  • Review profit/loss and actual hours from similar parts in our database
  • Clearly document and communicate the basis for estimates to ease the transition from quoting to manufacturing
  • Monitor job performance in real-time and investigate run time overages

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or relevant technology discipline, or 5 years of experience in a precision machining environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to collaborate across departments
  • Excellent time management skills, with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Experience with MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Must be a US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience in a job shop estimating or quoting role
  • Work experience in a fabrication or machine shop environment
  • Knowledge of machining methods, milling, lathe, and grinder capabilities, work flow processes, heat treatment, coatings, and material properties
  • Entrepreneurial experience or experience in a technical sales role
