Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at II-VI Incorporated. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing rapid prototyping and developing emerging manufacturing technologies for ceramic-based composite materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute project plans, track and report deliverables to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Utilize Computer Aided Manufacturing software to design and optimize CNC programs, CMM programs, and 3D CAD models.
  • Develop and improve machining methods for ceramic-based composite materials, including 5-axis machining, grinding, EDM, and laser processing.
  • Support design and complementary functions with process flow, tool definitions, and work holding concepts.
  • Interface with outside entities, including customers, tooling suppliers, equipment vendors, and test labs.
  • Transfer successful products and processes to manufacturing, including writing standard work instructions and training manufacturing personnel.
  • Supervise lower-level engineers and technicians.
Requirements
  • BS in Engineering or equivalent training, experience, and education.
  • 5+ years of experience in advanced machining field.
  • Demonstrated program management capability and supervisory experience in process and product development environment.
  • Experience machining advanced materials, including ceramics and metal matrix composites.
  • Broad experience with machining methods, including milling, turning, diamond grinding, EDM, and laser processing.
  • Advanced knowledge of design software, including CAD, CAM, and CMM.
Working Conditions

This is a hands-on, lab-based job environment that requires frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling of equipment and materials. The successful candidate must be able to sit, bend, squat, and walk about the facility.
