Railcar Paint Operator

The Greenbrier Companies is seeking a skilled Railcar Paint Operator to join our team in the paint shop. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for preparing railcars for the blasting or painting process and applying paint touch-ups to missed areas.
Key Responsibilities- Operate machinery to move truck assemblies through the paint shop
- Operate forklift and overhead cranes to move material into position
- Maintain equipment and ensure it is operating properly before beginning work
- Apply paper covers with tape to wheels, couplers, and other devices and remove attachments prior to a railcar being blasted or painted
- Remove trash or debris from the inside and outside of a railcar to ensure a clean surface for painting
- Ensure safety and housekeeping standards are met and maintained
- Ability to be fit-tested and wear a respirator in areas where respirator use is required
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to use a paint brush to neatly apply different types of paints
This position is in a production environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, moving railcars and machinery, and trip hazards. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment, including composite-toed safety shoes, and may be exposed to hazardous chemicals.
This position may require working at heights of 20 feet or within confined spaces. You will be required to be clean-shaven when wearing a respirator.
Physical Requirements- Frequently stand, walk, and reach
- Occasionally sit, bend, kneel, squat, crawl, climb, and handle/finger
- Lift/carry up to 25 pounds
- Push/pull up to 25 pounds
