Job Description SummaryGE Aerospace Engine Services is a leading provider of aviation engine repair and maintenance services for commercial and military customers. The Manufacturing Engineer role supports the Aviation Engines Component Repair Business operations on site at Strother Field Kansas. This role is responsible for improving processes that support engine overhauls of CFM, CF34-8, CF34-10, PP20, T700, CT7, YT706, F110, and F118 engine models. The manufacturing engineer must be capable of collaborating with cross-functional team members to address issues that affect compliance, safety, quality, delivery, and cost.Job DescriptionEssential Responsibilities Determine safe manufacturing processes that produce a quality product in the most efficient method possibleAssist leaders, mechanics, and technicians in resolving manufacturing process issues. Collaborate to identify root cause and develop comprehensive corrective actions.Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research trials; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, machining, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; solicit feedback and observations from operators.Work cross functionally with quality and design engineers to ensure that processes achieve performance metricsTrain and empower production employees in manufacturing techniques required to improve process yieldSupport and meet production schedules, driving productivity, and quality initiatives within budget planUtilize lean principles to improve manufacturing efficiency, optimize material flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.Investigate and apply modern technologyPromote and build a positive working relationship with hourly team membersRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.Minimum of 5 years of Aviation industry experience in engineering or quality rolesKnowledge of inspection and maintenance methods related to aerospace engine repairsStrong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skillsDesired CharacteristicsHumble, transparent, and motivated individual with a focus on continuous learning.Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.Experience working in a unionized environmentProficiency in ERP SAP OasisStrong project management skills.Problem solver: analytical-minded, challenges existing processes, critical thinkerKnowledgeable in GD&T, print readingKnowledge of machining processes such as: CNC conventional machining, electrical discharge machining, water jet, plasma spray, chemical cleaning, paint, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, electron beam welding, heat treat.Six Sigma or equivalent Quality trainingThis role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
