Job Summary

The Air Force Civilian Service is seeking a skilled Electrician to join our team at Eielson AFB, Fairbanks, AK. As an Electrician, you will be responsible for providing electrical power and distribution, new construction, airfield lighting operations, and participating in ongoing training to ensure the best possible mission support in an arctic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installs, repairs, or replaces electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, panels, switches, breakers, and controls located in and near installation buildings and structures.
  • Troubleshoots problem areas and inspects for defective equipment and faulty wiring.
  • Uses and maintains various types of hand and/or power tools, such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, soldering irons, cable pullers, hydraulic benders, and pipe threading machines.
  • Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of technical practices in order to plan, lay out, install, modify, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of complete systems.
  • Skill in using and maintaining hand tools such as, screwdrivers, pliers, wirecutters, strippers, cable pullers, drills, soldering irons, and manual or power conduit benders and threaders.
  • Ability to use electrical drawings, blueprints, engineering drawings, and wiring diagrams and to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain various electrical systems, controls, and equipment without more than normal supervision.
