Position Overview:

Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
  • Graduation from an accredited Vocational/Practical Nurse program recognized by a State, the District of Columbia, or a U.S. territory.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a clinical setting such as a hospital, medical office, or outpatient facility.
  • Preferred experience in a correctional or residential healthcare environment.
  • Possession of a current TX or Compact state LVN license, with any changes to the license reported to the employer immediately.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Core Responsibilities:
The Practical Nurse Specialist will be responsible for:
  • Delivering direct patient care within the scope of practice, adhering to accepted standards and competencies.
  • Administering medications as prescribed through various routes including oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous, and topical.
  • Conducting initial assessments and intake screenings for new patients, utilizing established tools to gather both subjective and objective data.
  • Performing treatments such as wound care, vital sign monitoring, and electrocardiograms as directed by healthcare providers.
  • Collecting laboratory specimens and conducting point-of-care testing, ensuring appropriate follow-up on lab results.
