The American Association of Petroleum Geologists invites applications for the position of Senior Coastal Scientist.
Position OverviewThe successful candidate will serve as the co-lead of a large-scale cooperative agreement with the US Army Corps of Engineers' Engineering With Nature Program, advancing coastal adaptation with equitable nature-based solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead or co-lead core activities, including hydrodynamic modeling, cost-benefit analyses, and socio-economic analyses.
- Develop and implement research projects, collaborating with project Principal Investigators and research teams.
- Communicate results with diverse stakeholders, including insurers, government agencies, and underserved communities.
- Build and strengthen partnerships with USACE staff, insurers, and other key stakeholders.
- PhD in coastal engineering, marine sciences, geology, oceanography, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in coastal resilience and modeling of coastal processes.
- Demonstrated experience with numerical hydrodynamic and morphologic modeling, coastal modeling programs, and GIS and geospatial analysis.
