Satellite Systems Engineer: Mechanical Design and Development

At K2 Space, we are seeking a highly skilled Satellite Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering group, you will be responsible for the design, development, and qualification of satellite mechanical systems.

About the Role

This is a challenging opportunity for an experienced engineer to take on a leadership role in the development of our next-generation satellites. You will be working closely with cross-functional teams to define product requirements, create initial concepts and trades, perform preliminary and detailed analysis, define development test campaigns, and produce development hardware.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and qualify satellite mechanical systems from conceptual design through qualification to on-orbit operations
  • Lead satellite subsystem design reviews from kickoff through qualification and beyond
  • Drive hardware development, including hands-on development testing, analysis correlation, and follow-on hardware iterations
  • Perform hardware trades that steer both sub-system and top-level product direction
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to establish product requirements, company processes, and best practices for hardware design and manufacturing
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, or other relevant engineering discipline
  • Experience with CAD or FEA software packages (experience can be in a professional, academic, entrepreneurial, or hobby setting)
  • 1+ years of experience with mechanical and/or electromechanical design and analysis (internship, team project, graduate research, and extracurricular experience is applicable)
