Job Overview

POSITION OBJECTIVE: Oversee and manage all warehouse operations on a daily basis under the guidance of the Operations Manager. Ensure effective supervision of receiving, storage, and dispatching of products while adhering to company service and cost objectives. Meet essential KPI targets related to the accuracy of product selection and shipment to clients. Support the growth and development of warehouse staff skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct and coordinate the unloading and systematic organization of incoming shipments, as well as the picking, staging, and loading of outgoing shipments efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Guarantee the safe and effective use of all material handling equipment within a secure work environment.
  • Facilitate communication and adherence to all warehouse and company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and manage development plans for team members.
  • Train assigned staff to proficiently utilize warehouse management systems.
  • Clearly communicate work expectations and results to team members.
  • Assist in creating work schedules; ensure proper implementation and effective job assignments.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while ensuring the warehouse is secure.
  • Complete all necessary documentation and reports accurately and promptly.
  • Ensure inventory integrity.
  • Foster a productive team environment by developing training and professional growth programs.
  • Participate in the hiring, evaluation, disciplinary, and termination processes for warehouse personnel.
  • Ensure compliance of all union associates with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), related Work Rules, and company safety policies and procedures.
  • Provide coaching and counseling to both associates and management to correct behaviors and prevent future issues.
  • Monitor various operational metrics, such as mis-picks and productivity reports, to ensure compliance with performance standards.
  • Analyze current operations and propose recommendations for improving cost control and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with management to identify sources of inventory loss and assist in formulating an action plan.
  • Communicate with procurement on stock discrepancies to resolve issues and minimize customer shortages.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required; four-year degree preferred.
  • Proficient in using personal computers and software applications such as MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Previous experience in warehouse operations, inventory control, and distribution procedures.
  • Experience in the food distribution sector and knowledge of safety protocols preferred.
  • Demonstrated management experience, including communication, coaching, and organizational skills preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • Capacity to work positively and cooperatively with others to foster effective interdepartmental relationships.
  • Willingness to pursue ongoing education and enhance supervisory skills.
  • Adaptability to changing work demands and eagerness to improve warehouse operations.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required; must be able to travel independently as needed.
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license and maintain a safe driving record.
