Position Summary: The Assistant Kitchen Manager oversees the daily functions of designated kitchen areas.   • Monitor staff performance in assigned kitchen areas.
  • Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Offer constructive feedback to senior kitchen management regarding employee performance evaluations.
  • Uphold cleanliness and the aesthetic appeal of kitchen spaces.
  • Ensure a tidy, safe, and organized working environment.
  • Manage food storage, rotation, and utilization effectively.
  • Guarantee guest satisfaction through food quality, presentation, and address any complaints.
  • Assist in sourcing food products and verifying their quality.
  • Conduct daily tastings and reviews of food items to maintain quality and consistency.
  • Train line staff on proper menu item preparation.
  • Guide prep staff and butchers on food item preparation and storage.

Supervisory Duties: Directly supervises kitchen personnel and executes supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations. Responsibilities include recruiting, hiring, and training staff; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; and addressing employee concerns in collaboration with Human Resources.


Qualifications: To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:


  • Education: Technical Culinary Diploma or two years of relevant experience or training, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of cooking experience in a high-volume, quality-focused environment. Experience with social banquets is advantageous. One year of inventory and cost control experience is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in mathematical analysis, and the ability to interpret documents such as recipes and safety protocols.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and strong interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements: The physical demands for this position include standing, walking, and using hands to handle tools and equipment. The employee must be able to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds and possess the ability to focus on tasks in a loud environment.


Work Environment: The role involves working near moving mechanical parts and exposure to high temperatures. The noise level is typically loud.
