The Payroll Processing Specialist will support the payroll supervisor in the biweekly payroll execution for designated programs. This role is crucial in ensuring the precise processing and documentation of the organization’s payroll, while also delivering timely and accurate financial insights. The Specialist will engage in daily data entry related to payroll processing, collaborating effectively with a team of skilled professionals in a dynamic, deadline-oriented environment, showcasing accuracy and proficiency to enhance operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze time sheets for assigned programs and perform recalculations as necessary.
  • Calculate modifications to individual payroll accounts.
  • Generate various payroll-related reports.
  • Review and update employee insurance documentation.
  • Investigate payroll discrepancies.
  • Compile summaries of employee changes.
  • Maintain employee files for payroll and human resources updates.
  • Complete Labor Statistics reports for multiple states.
  • Process garnishment payments.
  • Collaborate closely with external payroll processing entities.
  • Assume payroll supervisor responsibilities during their absence, which may include:
  • Preparing month-end journal entries associated with payroll.
  • Coordinating with the Human Resources department regarding personal leave, new personnel action requests, unemployment claims, and workers' compensation matters.
Essential Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required; a BS/BA in business, accounting, or a related field is advantageous.
  • Minimum of 1 year of proven experience in payroll processing or wage attachment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and payroll best practices.
  • Proficient in Excel and Word applications.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Capability to interact effectively with various levels of management.
