Job Summary:

The successful candidate will have a strong background in anesthesia principles and practices, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for conducting pre-anesthetic evaluations, formulating anesthetic plans, and administering various anesthetics to patients. Additionally, you will be expected to manage post-anesthetic care, ensure accurate and timely anesthetic record-keeping, and stay updated with advancements in anesthesia.

Responsibilities:
  • Translate anesthesia principles into patient care
  • Conduct pre-anesthetic history, physical exams, and evaluations to formulate anesthetic plans
  • Communicate anesthetic risks, benefits, and alternatives to patients
  • Prepare patients, operating rooms, and procedural areas for anesthesia
  • Administer various anesthetics and continuously evaluate patient responses
  • Manage post-anesthetic care to optimize recovery and minimize pain
  • Ensure accurate and timely anesthetic record-keeping and documentation
  • Stay updated with advancements in anesthesia and work effectively in interdisciplinary teams
  • Collaborate with colleagues, train students, and demonstrate effective communication and professional behavior
  • Conduct and manage anesthesia for diverse surgical procedures, adapting techniques as needed
  • Perform clinical and technical aspects of anesthesia with in-depth knowledge of methods and techniques
  • Integrate technology, skills, and competency to advance anesthesia techniques, pharmacology, and equipment
  • Apply new developments and theories to solve complex anesthesia situations
  • Respond to emergencies with airway management, emergency fluids, medications, and resuscitation procedures
  • Provide emergency treatment based on Advanced Directives in VISTA
  • Document data in electronic medical records
Requirements:
  • Minimum Two years' (2) experience as a CRNA
  • Current and unrestricted ACLS and BLS Certifications in Texas and across States
  • Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program approved by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) at the time the program was completed by the applicant
  • Current, full active and unrestricted licensure as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia
  • The nurse anesthetist must maintain a current, full, active, and unrestricted registration to continue employment with VA
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English

  • CRNAs will maintain recertification by meeting the Council on Recertification of Nurse Anesthetist's requirements as a condition of employment
