Yard Attendant

Are you looking for a challenging and dynamic role in logistics? As a Yard Attendant at Wallenius Wilhelmsen, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of our terminal.

• Maintain yard organization by monitoring and controlling truck que areas
• Check off paperwork and locate cargo in the field for equipment operators to load
• Act as a spotter for equipment operators
• Update terminal system through handheld devices with cargo locations and work orders
• Update terminal system with different equipment used for different types of cargo
• Train new employees, recommend changes, and develop processes
• Ensure the department adheres to safety and quality standards
• Perform other job duties as assigned

• Read and understand department SOPs
• Complete understanding of, or ability to quickly learn processes
• Must be capable of carrying out specific work procedures and directions of management and leads
• Ability to troubleshoot operational issues
• Must be capable of meeting/exceeding the required production standards
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions
• Must understand basic math
• Be motivated, self-directed, and detail-oriented
• Must be able to lift, carry, and hold items up to 50lbs
• Ability to bend, stoop, stand, and walk for extended periods of time
• Able to work in all weather conditions
• Have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Good communication skills, able to work well with others
• Possess good hand/eye coordination
• Comfortable working in all weather conditions, extreme hot or cold
• Willing and able to frequently learn new technology and equipment

• High School graduate or equivalent
• TWIC Card
