Position Summary & Responsibilities

The position (K Communication, Policy, and Procedure review: Responsible for the public communications of the Bureau of Family Health (BFH). Works on local and statewide initiatives, while directing extensive informational programs and providing information regarding sensitive matters to the news media, the public, and partners. Evaluates BFH's procedures and policies from the viewpoint of public relations. Reviews all material produced by BFH for accuracy, grammar, and to ensure alignment across program types. Develops, updates, reviews, and approves all communication plans within BFH. Assists in the development and review of all state and federal reports. Ensures that requested work is performed timely and accurately as requested. Works with the communications team to update website and social media account pages, including developing content/material and providing to IT staff for posting on the website. Tracks promotion analytics and compiling requested reports to detail the effectiveness of campaigns, as reasonable.

Job Responsibilities

Technical Assistance and Subject Matter Expertise: Provides input and recommendations on communication components of BFH to the various programs and partners. Responds to requests for technical assistance from state and local partners to align public health education with effective BFH messaging. Guides programs in communicating the impact resulting from implementation of state and local evidence-based strategies and approaches. Initiates issue papers, grant proposals, bill reviews, and testimony related to BFH.

Qualifications
  • Education: High School, GED
  • Licensing & Certification: Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State.
  • Minimum Qualifications: One year of experience in providing direction necessary to implement the objectives of an agency, program or organizational unit. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood/Child Development, Public Health/Administration, Communications or Journalism Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access Proofreading, editing, attention to detail Knowledge of applicable federal/state laws Excellent communication skills; verbal and written Ability to function as a team leader and participant Ability to analyze, interpret and problem solve Knowledge of group dynamics and group processes Excellent customer service skills Experience writing rules and regulations, technical writing and policies /procedures Experience working on a team and organizing and coordinating activities and processes Knowledge of childcare licensing/industry Experience drafting human services legislation or administrative rules/regulations Experience in communications Experience in child welfare, public health, maternal and child health Experience in any combination of early childhood, early care and education Experience in licensing and regulatory administration, and/or political science
