Emergency Veterinary Technician

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our team at Ethos Veterinary Health. As a key member of our emergency and critical care department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our patients and their families.
Responsibilities:- Manage and provide for the patients' needs in the ER and critical care department.
- Participate in patient triage to maximize efficiency and provide client updates during triage.
- Assist in patient stabilization, including IV catheter placement, drug/fluid therapy, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Monitor patients and document in medical records.
- Perform diagnostics and treatments on patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
- Discharge patients and provide client education, including home care instructions, medication information, and monitoring.
- Induce and monitor general anesthesia/sedation procedures.
- Provide updates to pet owners on the status of their pet during their visit.
- Maintain open and clear communications with the patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication, and nursing care concerns.
- Develop technical skills, including IV catheter placement, urinary catheter placement, venipuncture, and safe restraint.
- Follow established hospital policies and procedures when handling client concerns.
- VTS mentorship opportunities are available.
- All employees will be scheduled and expected to work rotating holiday shifts in the emergency and critical care department.
- All employees are required to participate in the on-call rotation as needed.
- Document legibly and keep accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policy.
- Clear understanding and enforcement of OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards.
- Three 12-hour shifts, including one weekend shift.
- Two holidays per year.
- $20-$35 per hour, pending skills assessment leveling and credentialing.
- Even higher for VTS.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an AVMA-Accredited Veterinary Technician Program preferred.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
- Must be flexible and able to adapt to new situations.
