Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our team at Ethos Veterinary Health. As a key member of our emergency and critical care department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our clients.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and provide for the patients' needs in the ER and critical care department, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
  • Participate in patient triage to maximize efficiency and provide client updates during triage.
  • Assist in patient stabilization, including IV catheter placement, drug/fluid therapy, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Monitor patients and document in medical records, maintaining accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Perform diagnostics and treatments on patients presenting to the Emergency Department, utilizing your technical skills and knowledge.
  • Provide updates to pet owners on the status of their pet during their visit, ensuring clear and compassionate communication.
  • Maintain open and clear communications with members of the patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication, and nursing care concerns.
  • Technical skills include IV catheter placement, urinary catheter placement, venipuncture, and safe restraint.
  • Follow established hospital policies and procedures when handling client concerns, ensuring a positive and respectful experience.
  • VTS mentorship opportunities available for professional growth and development.
  • All employees will be scheduled and expected to work rotating holiday shifts in the emergency and critical care department.
  • All employees are required to participate in the on-call rotation as needed, with shifts subject to revisions and changes at the discretion of the hospital.
  • Document legibly and keep accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policy, adhering to OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an AVMA-Accredited Veterinary Technician Program preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, strong work ethic, and a positive attitude.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to new situations, working effectively as a team player.
