The Electrical Engineering co-op is responsible for developing and testing machinery and equipment under the direction of plant engineers and senior engineers.

Our co-op students receive pertinent work assignments and opportunities to work independently in our facility.

We believe in the learning aspect of work assignments and pair our co-op students with a coach/mentor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and test machinery and equipment by reviewing project instructions and blueprints, determining test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment, and possible solutions.

Draft detail drawings or sketches for the drafting room or to request parts fabrication by machine, sheet metal, electrical, or wood shops.

Devises, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical components or assemblies for products such as industrial equipment and machinery, power equipment, servo systems, machine tools, and measuring instruments.

Sets up and conducts tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate design proposals for improving equipment performance or other factors, or to obtain data for development, standardization, and quality control.

Analyzes indicated and calculated test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives, and modifies or adjusts equipment to meet specifications.

Records test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test method.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Must be a currently enrolled student majoring in Electrical Engineering and having completed at least the freshman year.

Cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a scale of 4.0.

Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.

Will be interacting with production, maintenance, vendors, contractors, management, and engineering.

Occasionally involved in presentations and providing training for plant personnel.

Must have good problem-solving skills both from a troubleshooting and project planning standpoint.
