We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pediatric Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to join our team at Stony Brook University. This role will involve providing direct care to patients in the Division of Pediatric Primary Care Medicine, working collaboratively with Attending Physicians to deliver comprehensive medical services. The selected candidate will also be responsible for teaching and mentoring healthcare professionals, including staff nurses, to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pediatrics, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. This is a non-tenure track position, and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the development and implementation of clinical programs and services.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of pediatric patients.
  2. Develop and implement educational programs for healthcare professionals, including workshops, seminars, and individualized coaching.
  3. Conduct research and participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and improve clinical practices.
  4. Maintain accurate and timely records, including patient charts, progress notes, and other relevant documentation.
  5. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines that promote best practices in pediatric care.

Requirements:

  • Nurse Practitioner: New York State licensure as a nurse practitioner, master's degree in nursing or foreign equivalent, certification as a pediatric nurse practitioner, and minimum three years of experience working in pediatrics.
  • Physician Assistant: New York State physician assistant license, NCCPA certification as a physician assistant, bachelor's degree in science or foreign equivalent, and completion of an ARC-PA accredited program.
  • A minimum of three years of experience working in pediatrics, preferably in a hospital setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five or more years of experience working in pediatrics.
