Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team in the Emergency Department at Stony Brook Medicine. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will provide high-quality patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse or other assigned supervisor.
About the Position
This is a full-time night shift position working every other weekend and variable hours. You will be responsible for delivering care in accordance with the patient care plan, policies, and procedures of the organization, as well as participating in committees or projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect data through observation and communicate information to assist the RN and/or provider in patient assessment and care planning.
- Participate as a member of the healthcare team and accept delegation from the RN/assigned supervisor and provider in meeting needs of the patient/family.
- Deliver care in accordance with the patient care plan, policies, and procedures of the organization and principles of relationship-based care.
- Plan and manage patient care according to each patient's needs.
- Interview patients and record their medical history and physical condition.
- Provide routine care for patients.
- Observe patients' health.
- Review medical charts.
- Perform standard diagnostic procedures including EKG, phlebotomy, venipuncture, PFT, and Doppler.
- Provide wound care.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State.
- Acute care experience, preferably in an Emergency Department setting.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds and stand for long periods.
