Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Laundry Specialist to join our team at the Good Samaritan Society. As a Laundry Specialist, you will play a critical role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our residents and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform day-to-day tasks to maintain a clean environment in a healthcare organization.
  • Work independently or as part of a team to ensure the safe and efficient handling of laundry.
  • Sort, wash, and dry laundry, as well as apply chemicals and water temperature as needed.
  • Follow infection prevention guidelines to handle contaminated laundry according to organizational and healthcare industrial laundry standards.
  • Participate in laundry collection and sorting, as well as the handling, storage, and distribution of clean laundry.
  • Collect dirty linens from wards, rooms, and medical offices, and distribute clean and disinfected linens.
  • Perform tasks such as washing, drying, folding linens, sorting and folding clothing, and labeling laundry according to organizational standards.
  • Store and secure laundry supplies and equipment.
  • Use proper protective equipment (PPE) as outlined in organizational standards.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to use a computer.
  • Prior cleaning experience in a healthcare setting is helpful.
  • Knowledge of materials, equipment, and methods used in cleaning is beneficial.
  • Depending on location, a valid driver's license and good driving record may be required.
