About the Role

We are seeking an entry-level engineer to join our Fleet Reactor Engineering Team at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory. As a Nuclear Engineer and Physicist, you will play a critical role in evaluating reactor operations and transients, developing analytical skills, and contributing to the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and analyze thermal hydraulic models to support reactor operations and transients
  • Research and develop probabilistic models for reactor plant safety
  • Communicate nuclear plant accident progression and results to coworkers, managers, and Naval Reactors
  • Conduct thermal analysis of spent fuel packages and develop scripts to run models and post-process results
  • Work productively and efficiently with a team of knowledgeable professionals to document different analyses
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science-related field
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science-related field (preferred)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information effectively
