Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced chemical engineer to join our Materials Manufacturing area. This team is responsible for researching and testing nuclear fuel and cladding materials, including test design, specimen fabrication, and characterization.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with engineering, laboratory, facility, and compliance organizations to enable and conduct test programs.
- Plan, design, model, analyze, manufacture, and deploy laboratory equipment, including nuclear, chemical, mechanical, structural, and electrical components and systems.
- Develop models of unit operations, execute testing, and analyze data to test and verify process models, utilizing modeling to improve unit operation performance.
- Develop and fabricate unique materials systems, up to and including small-scale production demonstration.
- Document progress, analyze results, and conduct presentations as needed.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or a science-related field, with 9 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 7 years of experience.
- Alternatively, candidates with Shift Supervisor Part II qualification, SIT and 3 years EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program, CRE qualified, or 6 years as SRE, or SRE qualified with 9 years of experience may be considered.
- Experience in materials science, control systems, and chemical engineering.
- Data analytics, statistical design of experiments, and machine learning skills.
- Modeling of fluid dynamics and thermal transfer.
- Software programming skills in LabVIEW and Python environments.
- Experience in core material and core manufacturing technical areas.
- Core material vendor contract and production oversight.
- Ability to clearly articulate technical work and detail to broad audiences.
- Proactive approach, self-motivation, time and project management skills, ownership, and personal accountability.

Our pay range is $114,178.80 annually, with salary based on candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
