This role acts as the central point for designated brand(s) and collaborates with cross-functional teams to manage project timelines and business requirements essential for developing each product line, including design vision, manufacturability, and cost considerations, while proactively upholding quality standards. Furthermore, this position functions as a liaison within the organization to freelance designers, global project managers, contract manufacturers, and key international branches, ensuring that new product development efforts are focused, well-coordinated, and aligned with critical development timelines and profitability goals. The Lead Brand Strategist, in conjunction with senior leadership, contributes to the formulation and execution of strategic objectives and guides their team towards achieving outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate effectively with product design, packaging design, marketing, licensing, and other internal partners to develop products that align with brand identity.
- Manage daily line development for assigned brand(s) while adhering to key development milestones and financial targets.
- Identify and understand retailer-specific channel strategies to create diverse product lines that meet the evolving demands of global markets and retail channels.
- Utilize project management tools for overseeing assigned projects.
- Coordinate design approvals with relevant licensors and stakeholders throughout the development process.
- Maintain consistent communication with brand and cross-functional teams to provide updates on project status, challenges, and opportunities to the broader organization.
- Assess the competitive landscape and industry trends to inform strategic decisions regarding product development and customer engagement.
- Analyze sales data, comprehend competitive dynamics, and identify current industry trends to aid in product line architecture and development, as well as to uncover growth opportunities and new product segments.
- Provide insights on consumer behavior, category performance, and competitive analysis, and collaborate with the Business Director to identify new trends and product development opportunities.
- Assist in formulating brand and product strategies, including themes and positioning for each product development season.
- Act as the primary contact for cross-functional teams during the brand planning and product development phases.
- Ensure brand integrity and adherence to development schedules.
- Verify that all outsourced work is quoted and approved in a timely manner prior to execution.
- Confirm that potential expenses align with the proposed development budget and negotiate competitive pricing with vendors and external partners.
- Engage with key vendors/suppliers and product managers to facilitate a seamless business process.
- Ensure necessary changes are communicated to the responsible parties and executed, escalating concerns to the Product Manager and relevant leadership.
- Collaborate with Brand Managers to foster licensor relationships and coordinate design approvals with respective licensors and stakeholders throughout the development process.
- Work with cross-functional teams to plan and deliver impactful presentations.
- Stay informed about compliance, style guides, and approvals through internal systems and external communications.
- Provide timely feedback to cross-functional teams.
- Gather insights from domestic and international markets regarding new and existing products.
- Incorporate sales feedback into the development of new products.
- Lead and participate in key account discussions.
- Monitor and analyze sales and profitability of both new and existing products.
- Collaborate with Sales and Contract Manufacturing to proactively manage inventory levels.
- Guide the team towards achieving results and ensuring the delivery of best-in-class products while maintaining brand integrity.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in product development, brand management, licensing, or project management.
- 5+ years of experience in the consumer products sector.
- 3+ years of leadership experience.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and G-Suite.
- Familiarity with digital rights management systems.
- Creative thinker with a focus on innovation.
- Able to multitask, organize, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
- Capable of working independently or as part of a team.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Articulate and engaging presentation skills.
