Responsibilities:

  • Perform Laboratory Procedures: Execute both basic and advanced laboratory tests, including waived, moderate, and high-complexity testing. Handle emergency, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures for neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Instrument Management: Calibrate, standardize, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments. Perform quality control checks and take corrective actions for any malfunctions or out-of-control test results.
  • Documentation: Complete all required documentation for tasks performed.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to infection control and safety practices according to policies.
  • Inventory and Supplies: Manage inventory and ensure proper storage and handling of laboratory supplies.
  • Communication: Respond to inquiries regarding test results, methodologies, specificity, sensitivity, and interpretation.
  • Charge Tech Duties: May serve as Charge Tech as required.

Qualifications:

  • Certification: Must be board-certified in Laboratory Science by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or the American Medical Technologists (AMT).
