Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to lead our Denver office in delivering exceptional water management solutions for Tailings Storage Facilities and multi-disciplinary mining projects.

The ideal candidate will provide project leadership in design, investigation, analysis, and construction of water management systems, serving as lead engineer or discipline lead on mid- to large-size projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing project leadership in the areas of design, investigation, analysis, and construction of water management systems for Tailings Storage Facilities and multi-disciplinary mining projects
  • Serving as lead engineer or discipline lead on mid- to large-size projects
  • Working with existing and potential clients to provide long-term stormwater management solutions for mine waste facilities
  • Developing project proposals and working with mining business leaders to support and grow the Mining practice
  • Providing direction to and mentoring to other technical staff in completing project tasks
  • Performing independent technical reviews of engineering reports and design and signing off on work
  • May be responsible for project teams that include 5 or more members, often representing multiple disciplines, including subcontractors
  • Planning, scheduling, conducting, or coordinating detailed phases of the engineering project, focusing on the stormwater management design of mine waste storage projects
  • Providing advice and consultation to clients on engineering matters, including compliance with government laws and regulations
  • Conducting hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and drainage/civil design

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD in Civil Engineering or related field of study
  • 10+ years or more of relevant experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • MSHA Miner training
  • Demonstrated progressive experience in stormwater evaluation and design, construction monitoring, and operations
  • Progressive project experience, including task leadership and project management roles on design and design-build projects
  • Ability to serve as primary point of contact with clients and develop client relationships
  • Knowledge of standard hydrologic and hydraulic software programs, including HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS
  • Lead designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, construction specifications, and final working drawings
  • Work with CAD designers to produce construction-level drawings, including grading, drainage, and roadway plans, profiles, details, and sections
  • Perform frequency storm and probable maximum precipitation hydrologic analyses
  • Conduct hydraulic analyses and design of channels, culverts, bridges, flow measurement, and flood mapping
  • Prepare reservoir and pond designs, including geosynthetic lining, leak detection/collection systems, breach analysis, outlet works, and spillways
  • Design channels and energy dissipation structures, including concrete, riprap, articulated concrete block, fabric-formed concrete, and baffle blocks for erosion control
  • Coordinate with OSE, EPA, and other agencies for permit preparation
  • Perform work in accordance with agreed-upon scope, budget, and schedule
  • Scope/estimate complex civil and hydraulics projects
  • Track and manage task budgets and schedules
  • Write reports and prepare/or direct preparation of detailed calculation packages, including proper documentation and references
  • Must be resourceful, highly organized, professional with attention to detail and people
