About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Staff Nurse II to join our team at the University of Illinois. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and contribute to our mission of delivering excellent service.

Job Summary

The Staff Nurse II is accountable for delivering patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and Relationship-Based Care model as the framework. This role involves direct patient care and taking initiative to improve patient outcomes by integrating Shared Leadership, Evidence-Based Practice, Relationship-Based Care, and standards of nursing excellence into clinical practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develops, implements, and updates patient plans of care based on ongoing assessment of the patient and input from the patient's family.
  • Shares information and collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to promote effective patient care.
  • Verifies and implements orders from physicians, physician assistants, and/or advance practice nurses by performing interventions as prescribed by the provider and documenting accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Engages and obtains information from patients and/or families to develop an appropriate patient educational plan.
  • Recognizes symptoms, establishes priorities, and responds to patients' changing needs.
  • Engages support personnel by delegating appropriate tasks per the Illinois State Nurse Practice Act and provides support and feedback.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in Illinois with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
  • One year of RN experience.
  • Current AHA BLS/CPR and other required unit-specific certifications.
  • Effective communication skills (oral and written) that facilitate therapeutic relationships between patients, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Intermediate computer skills with the ability to become proficient in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with on-the-job training.
  • Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills, and work history.
  • Minimum of 1.5 years Med-Surg and Psych experience required.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience working on a Float team or agency work preferred.

Estimated Salary

$94,000 - $104,000 per year, depending on experience.
