About the Job

The Certified Athletic Trainer will be responsible for providing medical care and support to athletes at DeeMack High School. This includes preventing injuries, maintaining the health and well-being of athletes, and rehabilitating them after illness or injury.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical coverage at home events and practices
  • Assist with coach's clinics and outreach coverage to local high schools
  • Communicate with athletes, parents, athletic directors, coaches, and physicians regarding athletes' playing status and ability to return to competition
  • Coordinate with school athletic directors regarding school sports coverage and programs
  • Develop and implement patient treatment programs within departmental guidelines and state practice act guidelines
  • Provide clear and concise written information to patients and their families
  • Manage supplies and obtain new supplies as needed
  • Participate in state, district, and national athletic training organizations
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in an Athletic Training Program or Entry Level Masters
  • BOC certification and IL AT license or eligible
  • Approximately one to two years' experience of progressively responsible related experience
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds daily
  • Ability to stand, walk, and kneel for 90% of work time
  • Ability to stoop and bend, reach, and grab with arms and hands
  • Ability to communicate with others and color vision
Working Conditions

The Certified Athletic Trainer will work in all athletic type atmospheres where there may be discomforts due to dust, dirt, noise, heat, and the like. The ability to push and/or pull supply carts, gurneys, and/or wheelchairs is also required.
