Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Certified Medication Aide to join our team at Birchwoods At Canco Assisted Living. As a key member of our care staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our residents.

About the Role
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for providing medication assistance to residents in accordance with state regulations and company policy.
  • You will also maintain the medication cart and storage room in a neat and orderly manner, and be accountable for accurate medication counts and the security of these areas during assigned shifts.
  • In addition to medication administration, you may be called upon to assist residents with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, transferring, and mobility.
Responsibilities
  1. Provides medication assistance to residents, including pouring, preparing, assisting with administration, and documentation.
  2. Maintains the medication cart and storage room in a neat and orderly manner.
  3. Accepts responsibility for accurate medication counts and the security of the medication cart and medication storage room during assigned shifts.
  4. Assists residents with activities of daily living, as needed.
  5. Engages residents in meaningful conversation, socialization, and activity while providing personal care and medication assistance.
  6. Responds promptly to resident needs and/or requests for care, and provides or obtains assistance with care as necessary.
  7. Upholds Residents' Rights at all times.
  8. Supports and upholds all company policies and care philosophy.
  9. Observes residents for changes in physical, emotional, mental, or behavioral condition, unusual symptoms, medication side effects, accidents, injuries, or unusual occurrences, and reports promptly to a licensed nurse.
  10. Completes all documentation, such as medication administration records, incident reports, change of condition reports, and behavior tracking, as requested, and in a timely manner.
  11. May be called upon to assist with Caregiver housekeeping responsibilities.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • A minimum of 1-year of previous experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant for the elderly in a residential or long-term care setting (experience may depend on state requirements).
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, and other staff members.
  • Must be able to perform job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must complete Medication Aide training (and certification in states where required).
