Certified Medication Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated Certified Medication Aide to join our team at Birchwoods At Canco Assisted Living. As a key member of our care staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our residents.
About the Role- The successful candidate will be responsible for providing medication assistance to residents in accordance with state regulations and company policy.
- You will also maintain the medication cart and storage room in a neat and orderly manner, and be accountable for accurate medication counts and the security of these areas during assigned shifts.
- In addition to medication administration, you may be called upon to assist residents with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, transferring, and mobility.
- Provides medication assistance to residents, including pouring, preparing, assisting with administration, and documentation.
- Maintains the medication cart and storage room in a neat and orderly manner.
- Accepts responsibility for accurate medication counts and the security of the medication cart and medication storage room during assigned shifts.
- Assists residents with activities of daily living, as needed.
- Engages residents in meaningful conversation, socialization, and activity while providing personal care and medication assistance.
- Responds promptly to resident needs and/or requests for care, and provides or obtains assistance with care as necessary.
- Upholds Residents' Rights at all times.
- Supports and upholds all company policies and care philosophy.
- Observes residents for changes in physical, emotional, mental, or behavioral condition, unusual symptoms, medication side effects, accidents, injuries, or unusual occurrences, and reports promptly to a licensed nurse.
- Completes all documentation, such as medication administration records, incident reports, change of condition reports, and behavior tracking, as requested, and in a timely manner.
- May be called upon to assist with Caregiver housekeeping responsibilities.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- A minimum of 1-year of previous experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant for the elderly in a residential or long-term care setting (experience may depend on state requirements).
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English to communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, and other staff members.
- Must be able to perform job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must complete Medication Aide training (and certification in states where required).
- An estimated salary of $45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
