Key Responsibilities- Obtain and document patient medical and physical histories, as well as other relevant information, in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Perform various clinical tasks, including vital sign recordings, EKGs, and spirometry, under the supervision of licensed staff.
- Assist licensed staff during patient treatment, examination, and testing, which may include injections and immunizations.
- Record and report patient information, including adverse reactions to medication and treatment.
- Perform lab duties, including phlebotomy, order entry, specimen collection, and labeling for delivery to the appropriate authority for testing.
- Under the supervision of licensed personnel, distribute educational information and instructions for patient care, diagnostics, and other appropriate treatments.
- Coordinate telephone and in-basket requests for prescription refills and test results, as well as other requests under the guidance of a physician or licensed provider.
- Prepare and maintain examination/treatment rooms, including inventory management and supply ordering.
- Practice Standard Precautions, including handwashing and bio-hazardous material disposal, and comply with established risk management, HIPAA, and safety procedures.
- Attend required meetings, in-services, and participate in committees as needed.
- Assist with administrative duties, including procedure scheduling and completion of medical and physical history forms.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program or completion of a Nursing Assistant program is required.

- BLS required. Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or a similarly recognized certifying organization is required.
