The Specimen Accessioner plays a critical role in supporting the overall functions of the Accessioning department and maintaining quality customer service and satisfaction. Key responsibilities include:

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**

• Accurately enter patient demographic and test information into the computer system

• Process and accession laboratory samples for in-house testing and reference lab testing

• Troubleshoot problems when necessary and ensure specimen stability

• Set-up and prepare samples for testing, ensuring proper delivery to the testing department

• Complete required annual training and maintain a clean and safe working environment

• Respond to changes in work schedule as necessary and perform multiple tasks simultaneously

• Ensure proper completion of all work and support Laboratory goals, policies, procedures, and philosophy

**Requirements**

• High School diploma or equivalent

• Type minimum 40-wpm with minimal errors

• Data Entry experience and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with co-workers, clients, patients, and/or visitors
