Job Summary:

The Medical Lab Scientist is responsible for performing routine tests on blood, tissues, and other body specimens, providing physicians with quality results using various clinical laboratory equipment.

This role requires a comprehensive understanding of patient safety and laboratory techniques to ensure complete patient safety and anonymity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform analytical tests on biological specimens in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner, in compliance with documented laboratory procedures.
  • Determine the acceptability of specimens by performing visual inspections or recognizing abnormal/unusual results.
  • Recognize factors that affect measurements and results, taking the appropriate action according to protocols.
  • Perform quality control for all testing and meet established ranges before patient results are released.
  • Maintain a safe and efficient work environment by performing equipment checks, cleaning the work area, monitoring temperatures, and troubleshooting laboratory equipment.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Biochemistry through a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved program.
  • MLS Medical Lab Scientist Certification or eligibility by a nationally recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP).
  • Externship program completion (preferred).
