The Behavioral Health Coordinator plays a vital role in establishing a therapeutic relationship with patients, fostering patient engagement and socialization through group activities, and maintaining a safe and secure environment. This position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with nursing, social services, and activity therapy departments.
Key Responsibilities- Establish a therapeutic relationship with patients and coordinate group activities to promote socialization and engagement.
- Record patient responses to group activities and maintain accurate records in the electronic medical record.
- Work closely with nursing, social services, and activity therapy departments to coordinate groups and activities tailored to patient skill levels.
- Assist patients with daily activities, collect specimens and vital signs as needed, and maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Participate in treatment team processes, provide input on patient responses to group activities, and interact with patients in a therapeutic manner.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting required.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., social services, psychology, sociology) required.
- BLS and CPI certification within 60 days of employment.
- Computer skills and effective communication abilities.
- Active listening and attention to detail.
- Therapeutic communication skills and ability to lead groups.
