Meat Department Manager Job Summary

As a Meat Department Manager at BJ's Wholesale Club, you will be responsible for leading a team of meat department team members, ensuring the fulfillment of member orders, maintaining proper inventory levels and merchandise displays, and achieving meat department sales, profitability, and waste goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage meat department operations, including supervising team members, maintaining inventory levels, and ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to members, responding to their inquiries, and recommending meat products.
  • Lead through change, model leadership competencies, and build credibility to drive business growth.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, providing them with the information they need to be successful.
  • Build high-performing teams by creating a culture of collaboration, providing honest and timely direction, and following up with feedback.
  • Deliver results by executing business expectations within expected timeframes, setting clear expectations, and utilizing follow-up and accountability.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge as a Qualified Journeyman Meat Cutter preferred.
  • Formal food service vocational education preferred.
  • High school diploma, college degree, and/or big box wholesale, retail, deli, grocery, meat, and/or management experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including managing/supervising cross-functional teams, training team members, and driving and communicating results.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and an attention to detail required.
  • Open shift availability required.
  • At least 18 years of age.
Work Environment:
  • Working in refrigerated and damp conditions.
  • Frequently requires lifting objects up to 30 pounds. Regular lifting of containers up to 80 lbs. with assistance.
  • Ability to operate safely power equipment and sharp knives.
  • Frequent exposure to cleaning agents.
  • Long periods of standing with frequent reaching and bending.

Compensation: The pay range for this position is $66,000.00-$82,500.00.
