Position Overview

Core Objective

The Environmental Field Specialist is tasked with the safe and efficient management of both hazardous and non-hazardous materials. This role encompasses the sorting of materials, ensuring their compatibility, and adhering to stringent safety protocols throughout the lab packing services provided to clients. Occasional travel may be necessary to support operations at various external sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prioritize Health & Safety by strictly following established policies and procedures to maintain a secure working environment.
  • Assist in the classification of chemicals according to hazard categories, ensuring they are packed in appropriate containers and prepared for transportation, including the completion of required documentation.
  • Identify necessary supplies for assignments, travel to diverse locations, and execute lab packing services across industrial, laboratory, and educational environments.
  • Engage in material characterization at project locations.
  • Adhere to correct procedures for placarding and load segregation during the transportation of hazardous materials.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients through effective communication practices.
  • Oversee Field Technicians/Drivers involved in waste collection activities.
  • Possess foundational knowledge in the management of high-hazard materials and the handling of cylinders.

Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline or a related field, or a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

Experience:

Prior experience in lab packing or environmental waste management is advantageous.

Skills and Competencies:

A solid understanding of federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to Environmental Services. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements:

Must be clean-shaven to wear a respirator while handling materials. Successful completion of a pre-employment physical, DOT physical, and drug screening is mandatory. Must obtain a Class B CDL with hazmat endorsement within six months. Compliance with Heritage Driving Qualifications is required. Must pass a Motor Vehicle Record search. Regular attendance is essential.

Post-offer drug screening will be conducted.
