Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our team at Actalent. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms, provider offices, and treatment rooms as needed.
  • Record patient data prior to each provider visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Obtain necessary patient records and verify consent prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as required.
  • Assist providers with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Participate in delegated patient education activities, including distributing educational literature.
  • Obtain blood specimens from peripheral sites as needed and adhere to OSHA and universal precautions.
  • Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections after proper training and supervision.
  • Document all elements of care and communicate pertinent information to attending providers.
  • Maintain exam/treatment room disinfection protocols and process instruments and equipment as needed.
  • Provide telephone or in-person screening for intake and gathering of information without requiring clinical judgment.
  • Phone in prescriptions and maintain accurate medication lists for patients under care.
  • Schedule patient tests, procedures, and hospital admissions, and schedule follow-up appointments as applicable.
  • Assist with select pre-authorizations and pre-certifications as needed.
  • Obtain new patient records and previous test results, x-rays, and scans.
  • Perform other administrative duties as requested by supervisor or provider.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree.
  • Graduate from an accredited program for Medical Assistants.
  • Current DOH MA Certified or able to obtain DOH MA Registered credentials or Current DOH Nursing Assistant Certified in a hospital or clinic setting.
  • CPR certification.
  • Previous phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Five years' experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinic setting.
  • Ability to regularly stand, bend, stoop/crouch, grasp, reach, talk, and hear.
  • Occasional sitting, lifting up to 40 pounds, pulling/pushing up to 40 pounds, and carrying up to 40 pounds.
  • Clear vision up to 5 feet with or without corrective lenses.
