Fleet Maintenance Technician Job Description

This entry-level position is a manual and semi-skilled role in the servicing, maintenance, and repair of diesel and gasoline engine powered equipment. Under the direction of the Fleet Services Manager or Lead Mechanic, a Fleet Maintenance Technician performs a variety of manual and semi-skilled duties in the servicing, maintenance, and minor repair of internal combustion equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preventive maintenance services for all DPW and other departmental vehicles
  • Tire care and replacement on all DPW vehicles
  • Assists with repair and maintenance of small engine equipment
Requirements:
  • A valid Wisconsin Commercial Driver's License, Class B, C with air brakes and Tanker (N) endorsement
  • An Associate Degree in Diesel Automotive Repair and Powertrain Servicing, Auto Collision Repair and Body Finishing, Welding Technology, or related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in automotive or heavy truck maintenance
