Job Summary:

As Pastry Sous Chef, you will collaborate with our Executive Chef to develop an outstanding dessert program that impresses our guests. You'll lead the pastry team in crafting artisanal desserts, baked goods, and other sweet creations, ensuring quality, consistency, and innovation. This role offers opportunities for growth and advancement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Executive Chef in daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
  • Contribute to developing creative and seasonal pastry menus aligned with the restaurant's vision.
  • Supervise and mentor the pastry team, fostering growth and maintaining a positive work environment.
  • E nsure all pastries and desserts meet the highest standards of quality, taste, and presentation.
  • Oversee daily operations of the pastry kitchen, including inventory, purchasing, and cost control.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant kitchen according to health and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to support events, specials, and new menu rollouts.
  • Train kitchen staff and foster a positive, collaborative work environment.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested by the Chef.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Pastry Sous Chef or in a similar role in a high-volume, upscale dining environment.
  • Strong knowledge of baking techniques, dessert preparation, and menu planning.
  • Creativity and passion for crafting unique, memorable desserts.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • A degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Creative and passionate about food, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Physical Demands:

  • The job requires working in hot temperatures, standing for prolonged periods, and occasionally lifting up to 45 pounds.
