About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Caregiver to join our team at RHA Health Services. As a Personal Caregiver, you will provide non-medical personal care services and homemaker services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health, and substance use challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Non-Medical Personal Care Services:
    • Assist with eating, including monitoring for safety and intake, and following special diets
    • Assist with personal care and hygiene, including bathing, tooth care, and grooming
    • Assist with self-administered medication
    • Assist with dressing
    • Assist with transfers, including one and two person pivot and use of lifts and devices
    • Empty or change external urinary collecting devices
    • Assist with urinals, bedpans, and/or commodes
    • Assist in monitoring regularity in bowel movements
    • Assist with prosthetics, such as applying/removing/cleaning hearing aids and limbs
    • Assist with menstrual care
    • Assist with positioning in bed, wheelchair, and other chairs
    • Assist with cradles, rolls, and pillows
    • Provide bowel or incontinence care
    • Encourage clients to perform normal body movements, as tolerated
    • Encourage clients to follow prescribed exercise programs
  • Homemaker Services:
    • Conduct routine housekeeping activities, such as making/changing beds, dusting, washing dishes, cleaning kitchen counters, cupboards, and appliances
    • Wash inside windows and clean blinds that are within reach without climbing
    • Do laundry and ironing
    • Mend clothes
    • Teach/perform meal planning and preparation
    • Clean up after meals
  • Respite Services:
    • Respite Care services are furnished on a short-term basis because of the absence or need for relief of those persons normally providing the care
Requirements
  • A desire to care for others
  • No education or experience requirements for this position
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required to lift 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 70 lbs.
  • Must be able to pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stoop
  • Must be able to regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
  • Required to regularly stand and walk
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in CPR from the floor level, requiring work on hands, knees, bending, standing, and lifting
  • Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision
