About the Role

The Clinical Assistant provides critical support to physicians and surgeons, ensuring seamless patient care and administrative operations. This role requires a strong liaison between healthcare providers, patients, and families, ensuring quality care and efficient daily operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate patient care by serving as a liaison between physicians, patients, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Manage daily activities of the physician team staff to ensure effective and efficient daily operations.
  • Perform patient care responsibilities, including checking schedules, organizing patient flow, and assisting with procedures.
  • Complete clerical tasks, such as sending and receiving patient medical records, obtaining lab/x-ray reports, and managing charts.
  • Enter orders into the electronic medical record (EMR) system and prepare prescription refill requests.
  • Perform medical scribe functions as directed by the supervising physician.
  • Inventory, order, or re-stock medical supplies as applicable.
  • Set up examination rooms and instruments in accordance with proper sterilization techniques.
  • Maintain logging systems for refrigeration of medications, point of care testing, and sterilization processes.
  • Comply with established personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Perform appointment scheduling, verify times with patients, and prepare charts, pre-admissions, and consent forms.
  • Perform proficient phlebotomy duties.
  • Verify and update insurance information and perform pre-certification for procedures as necessary.
  • Provide training and mentoring to Level I MA staff.
  • Assist in establishing Medical Assistant I and II schedules and workflow to meet the needs of the practice and patient volumes.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Completion of a certificate Medical Assistant program from an accredited school
  • Completion of a Medical Scribe training program (if the Scribe role is required by the department)
  • 3+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant
  • BCLS certification - Required Issuing Authority: AHA
