Position Summary

The Financial Operations Controller is essential in assisting the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with all aspects of daily financial management. This role includes overseeing month-end closing processes, conducting analyses, and developing action plans. The Controller is responsible for monitoring key performance indicators, supply chain efficiency, and revenue cycle management, ensuring that the hospital's financial statements and records are precise and adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in both long-term and short-term financial planning for the market; provide insights, analyze weaknesses, and generate necessary reports.
  • Offer oversight at the director level for finance teams within Laboratory and Graduate Medical Education (GME), enhancing performance in collaboration with hospital controllers across the market.
  • Work alongside department leaders and staff to formulate work plans that enhance financial operations and measure the financial impact of improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance by remaining informed about Internal Audit activities, conducting self-audit risk assessments, and maintaining Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance through regular evaluations and audits.
  • Accountable for prompt and precise month-end reporting, scrutinizing revenue and expenses against budget forecasts, and identifying shortfalls to aid in the creation of mitigation strategies.
  • Supervise the review of balance sheet reconciliations and ensure all quarterly and routine forecasts are completed accurately and timely for CFO review.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process for market entities, collecting data, obtaining feedback from department heads, and identifying efficient methods to meet budgetary objectives.
  • Assist department leaders in program planning, including achieving organizational goals, budgeting, managing facilities, and utilizing equipment and supplies effectively.
  • Prepare analyses of revenue, costs, and service lines, along with pro forma development as required.
  • Collaborate closely with the CFO on initiatives to guarantee effective financial operations management.
  • Perform CFO duties as necessary and undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Education Requirements

  • Mandatory: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent relevant experience.

Experience Requirements

  • Mandatory: A minimum of five (5) years of experience in hospital accounting or finance.
  • Preferred: Seven (7) years of experience in hospital accounting or finance.
