Key Responsibilities:

The Asphalt Loader Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy machinery used in construction projects. This includes:

  • Conducting inspections of equipment to ensure safe operation and identifying maintenance needs.
  • Operating various types of heavy machinery, including loaders, dozers, and excavators, to move and grade materials.

  • Controlling air and water output for compressors and pumps by adjusting valves.
  • Utilizing control mechanisms to operate machinery and manage attachments effectively.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • Demonstrable experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator, preferably with a focus on road and bridge construction.
  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Ability to comprehend work instructions and communicate clearly with supervisors and team members.
  • Familiarity with hand signals used in construction settings.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant industry experience is required.

Physical Requirements:

The role demands the following physical capabilities:

  • Frequent pushing and pulling of controls, with the need to exert force to operate machinery.
  • Occasional lifting of light items, such as radios and personal belongings.
  • Extended periods of sitting while operating machinery, with the need to twist and turn to monitor surroundings.
  • Ability to navigate uneven terrain and work in various weather conditions.
  • Regular climbing to access machinery and performing inspections.

Work Environment:

The work environment is characterized by:

  • Outdoor settings with exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • High noise levels and the presence of dust and grease typical of construction sites.
