The Senior Laboratory Manager is a key member of the NYC Health Hospitals team, responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the chemistry division. This role requires a strong background in chemical analysis and laboratory management, with a focus on ensuring the highest quality results and compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the daily operations of the chemistry division, including staffing, budgeting, and instrumentation decisions.
- Develop and implement procedures for quality control and assurance, including CAP and NYSDOH proficiency testing.
- Monitor and analyze laboratory statistics, including quality control and performance metrics.
- Train and mentor laboratory staff on new procedures and technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of laboratory services.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of laboratory supplies and equipment.
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices, and implement changes as necessary to maintain a competitive edge.
- Baccalaureate degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or forensic science, or equivalent experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in chemical work, with a strong background in laboratory management and quality control.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
